The berry season is traditionally a highlight with the long summer midnight sun. The berries are gathered enjoyed and stored for the cold winter season. The berries are a great nutrition source from nature. There are bilberries and Lingonberries in the forests of the Nordic region. Also other soft berries like wild strawberries and raspberries that grow wild in suitable areas. Cloud berries are mostly found in the far north or sub arctic regions of Lapland, cloud berries are very highly prized.
Sweeping views from the tundra summit of Lapland, many people go out to the far north during their winter holidays, the weather during the spring season can be calm and warm with lots if sunlight, warm meaning -7 to 0’C, which is great for the families taking the kids out to alpine skiing and snowboarding. Other common activities are snowmobiles and cross country skiing, husky dogs and camping in the ice villages.
Touring the back country with skies is also great for the experienced skier. To go out to the remote areas and capture the wilderness with camera images, as you see here in the picture below with my ski tracks along a frozen ice lake. I toured out and made tracks where there were no other ski tracks at the time.
Natural Nordic nutrition in the basic traditional form as i imagined it. The hard labor of love making rye bread from the land. Clearing the land, sowing the seeds, watching it grow during the summer and harvesting the rye crop. Flour mill process and then into the hands of the home maker, and into the wood heated oven. Baltic herrings are also traditional food in the Nordic region.
